S.H.A.R.E. Ministry (Supporting, Honoring, Appreciating, Respecting, the Elderly) S.H.A.R.E. is an opportunity to minister to the elderly in our church body. This ministry is ideal for those who are unable to serve in a ministry that requires weekly meetings. This ministry can be done mostly from your own home. We encourage by sending cards, making phone calls, and making small gift bags of candy, cookies, etc. to deliver on holidays.
Supporting. Everyone needs support at some time of their life. Whether it is emotional, spiritual or physical support, we want to be there to lift up others who have been the lifters in the past. So often we get so busy with life that we forget that there are many older Christians who are not able to attend service due to illness or physical frailties that come with the aging process.
Honoring. In our youth oriented culture, the elderly are often forgotten. They have walked with the Lord for years and carried the torch in whose light we are walking. They are worthy of honor.
Appreciating. Many of our elderly are still serving the Lord! We need to say, "Thanks!" Even those who are not able to come to our worship services are ministering as prayer warriors.
Respecting. "Respect your elders!" isn't just an old fashioned saying of a bygone era. It is a biblical principle in both the Old and New Testaments. "Rise in the presence of the aged show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the Lord" (Leviticus 19:32). "Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older" (1 Peter 5:5).
Elderly. If you live long enough, you will be in this category! Don't you hope someone will S.H.A.R.E. with you when you need it?
