RADICAL
Do you believe that Jesus is worth abandoning everything for? Do you believe Him enough to obey Him and to follow Him wherever He leads, even when the crowds in our culture – maybe even in our churches – turn the other way?
David Platt, the author of Radical, invites you to encounter what Jesus actually said about being His disciple, and then obey what you have heard. He challenges you to consider with an open heart, how we have manipulated a God-centered gospel to fit our human-centered preferences. With passionate storytelling and convincing biblical analysis, Platt calls into question a host of comfortable notions that are common among Christ’s followers today. He proposes a radical response: live the gospel in ways that are true, filled with the promise, and ultimately world changing.

Admit your need
God’s original creation was perfect and the original pair (Adam & Eve) were in perfect relationship with their Creator. However, something terrible happened. Mankind chose to rebel against God and live independently from Him. That rebellion is called SIN, and sin has separated us from God ever since. Romans 3:23 declares, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” By admitting our need, we recognize our separation from God because of sin.
Believe in Christ
Rather than obliterate the human race and start over, God set in motion His plan from eternity past. This plan was that He would pay for the sins of His creation. His justice demanded the death penalty for sin; His love offered Himself up for our sins. Romans 5:8 states, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” To believe in Christ means more than just knowing the facts about Him. It means we place our trust in Him. We totally depend on Him to give us eternal life because of what He did on the cross for us.
Confess your faith in Christ
Romans 10:9 declares, “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Confess in the Bible means “to say the same thing.” Eternal life is yours when you say the same thing God says about your sin because that is what has separated you from Him. And, eternal life is yours when you say the same thing God says about Jesus; that He is God the Son who died on the cross so we could have eternal life. It’s like the most famous verse in the Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
Would you like to receive God’s gift of eternal life? It’s as simple as A,B,C! By faith you can pray:
God, I admit to You that I am a sinner. I know my sins have separated me from You. God, I believe that You love me so much that You sent Your Son, Jesus, to die in my place. I believe Jesus also rose again to guarantee eternal life for me. Thank you God, for forgiving all of my sins. I trust in Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I ask this of You in Jesus’ saving Name, Amen.
If you trusted Christ today to be your Savior, we would like to send you a “New Believer’s Kit.” Just call or e-mail us and we will send it to you absolutely free. |
